It's been a while.
We shared months slaving away for the board exams with them (among other things). We were with them when we first found out we were full-fledged, licensed Medical Doctors. We will always share that bond forever.
And their apartment at Rob will always be headquarters.
We miss them, and everyone else.
Everyone's all busy with residency, marriages, migration, and the like. We know that after 25years, our class will have one hell of a reunion. In the meantime, we sincerely wish everyone well.
Shine, 2005! A big hug to any classmate who reads this. :)

Happy and Sad.
We revived an almost 'dead' patient last Thursday. It was exhilirating to save a person's life! The past few times I've received a flat line, our CPR efforts were to no avail. This particular one stablized in 15minutes. She is now in a coma, and her prognosis is otherwise poor. Her kidneys were failing, which explained her arrest, and the worsening of her DM. (No checkups in 2 years?) Nevertheless, I'm glad to have at least given hope to her relatives. What other profession can give you such an experience?? :)
On another note, I was a wee bit disappointed by one of the nicer consultants at the hospital though. As it would work in teaching hospitals, the residents are there to do the consultants' work. But in small hospitals where the duty people are simply moonlighters, we are obliged to 'make up' for them until they come. Maybe I was expecting a little more credit for the help we rendered? I was MISTAKEN. Hugely. Since the assist/catch fee will come from a chunk of their PF, can't they even spare p500 to a poor MD who actually saved their necks? If something bad would've happened, it would have been entirely my fault. But we did what we could at that time, the outcome was successful, and a THANK YOU wasn't even imperative? Gosh, I know you'll earn thousands from that patient. WE aren't even employed by THEM. Share and be thankful please. :)

Dampa (Aling Tonya's). Stel and I just splurged, hoarded and ate to death.
We bought enough seafood to feed a family of four. Haha.
Happy 49th :)

Doctor ME
I delivered a baby (by myself) for the first time, in a really long time, last Wednesday. It was exhilirating, exciting, and downright scary too. I've forgotten the rush I feel whenever you see the baby's head coming out. But this baby had the cord coiled around her neck.
It's a good thing the nurses were well experienced as well. I was an anesthesiologist, an obstetrician, and a pediatrician all at the same time. Now now, IF only they could share with me a part of their PF? Haha. AS if.
We saved an old man's life as well. He was post-elective surgery, and his course was pretty uneventful. Except that he suddenly developed PAROXYSMAL SUPRAVENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA a few hours after. That meant his heart was beating a 160beats/minute. And it didn't help that the hospital was out of this life-saving drug. Fortunately, the patient survived with a carotid massage... and an hour later, the much needed Amiodarone drip was started. His heart rate stabilized at 50-60. He could've died in our hands that day.
We lost another one though. I saved this man's life last Monday. He was desaturating, and was having a hard time breathing... and I singlehandedly was able to intubate the patient and stabilize him in one-go (Thank GOD!), and he was fine. A few days later (Wednesday), his relatives gave up on him, and wanted to take him home. The prognosis was bad, and they signed a Home Against Advice form that Wednesday. The patient must've felt it though... because a few hours after, the patient was arresting like crazy. He actually arrested about 5 times, before we could locate the wife, and pronounce him a few hours after. We felt that he must've been waiting for her to come back, to say goodbye.
We had three deliveries, one mortality, one morbidity, a whole lot of admissions... all in 24 hours. Now that's why I am a doctor. :)

Courage means moving ahead inspite of bumpy roads...
It means admitting you're afraid sometimes, and yet, GOING ON...
Courage means soaring like an eagle on the wings of hope...
It means searching for the seeds of truth and allowing them to blossom in our lives...
Courage means walking tall and unafraid,
Because we know that at the heart of courage, there is GOD.
The courage and hope you have found in God have guided you along bumpy roads before.
Look at that strength NOW,
and know with all your heart that you'll make it through.
And please remember that I will always be here if you NEED me.
Thanks sis. I love you :)

Happy Birthday MOTHER! :)
To the BEST WOMAN on the Planet.
The ultimate superwoman, and workaholic. I've never met anyone as determined, and as passionate as you.
We're Type A OVERACHIEVERS because of you. Thank you. Hehe.
We love you, Mama!
(That's my Mom with her favorite - and only SON)

The last time I was in Boracay was almost a year ago. They say that friends are found in the most unusual places. Who would've thought I'd find two of the truest persons I've ever met in my entire life there?
Hence, I was definitely ecstatic when Vivid informs me she's coming over to visit. Although her visit was PACKED, we agreed to meet on my post-duty day (with Stel) just to have a quick dinner.
But craziness will always be craziness, whether drunk, or sober. And my crazy friend, who I dearly love, managed to lock herself out of our friend's bedroom, with all her stuff, (and her cellphone) inside...
I called her a million times, and was DEEPLY worried that something might have happened (something bad). It was not until hours later when I finally found out the REAL reason... and we laughed out our crazy selves just like we did many times before.
We finally met again today. Had a fast lunch at the Mall of Asia. Paano ba naman, it was a Friday, and Manila is 2hours away from Pasig on a traffic day!!
All's well. Even if we would've stayed in a clinic all day, we'd still have tons to laugh and talk about. She's that kind of friend.
We had simple dreams anyway. When we were in Boracay, all we wanted to do was go to Starbucks together.

And today, we finally did.
Loveya dear. I'll see you tomorrow!

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but GOD is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.
Psalm 73:26
I rest on your promise, Lord.
I trust in YOU alone.
Teach me to be patient, and to pray, and to seek YOUR will.
Let your WILL be done, Lord.
Grant me peace of mind, and serenity of heart.
Help me, please?
